HomeByMe

HomeByMe (by Sofà Design) is a browser-based home design tool with a strong 3D visualization engine. You draw a floor plan, then furnish and decorate in 3D using a catalog of real furniture products. The free tier is generous and the photorealistic rendering quality is high for a free tool. It is similar in spirit to Planner 5D.

Floorplanner

Floorplanner is a general-purpose floor plan tool. The free tier covers one project and the interface is clean and straightforward. The 2D floor plan output is appropriate for real estate listings and basic interior planning. The 3D rendering is good but not as photorealistic as HomeByMe.

Which to choose

For interior design visualization and seeing what a finished room looks like: HomeByMe has the edge on 3D quality. For creating a clean 2D floor plan document for a listing or renovation contractor: Floorplanner. Both are worth trying on the free tier before committing to a paid plan.

Already have the floor plan?
